Lush Face Mask Workshop

Last weekend I had the chance to visit my local Lush store and join the fun workshops which they've been hosting in conjunction with Clipper Green Teas. If you haven't already heard about this then you need to catch up here.

It was lots of fun and I even took along my 4 yr old who is a HUGE Lush fan, he joined in the workshop and helped stir the mix. As always the staff where very friendly and talkative, they always make you feel welcome and made my son feel part of the workshop, letting him smell and touch the products. I took some great photos to share with you all, so without further a do here you go!!

A lovely cuppa of green tea...

The magic begins...

We came away with our lovely fresh face mask- Catastrophe and a lovely box of Clipper Green Tea

My son was mesmerised by the shower jellies, so I treated him to a tub. I must admit this is a great fun way of getting your children to wash themselves!

Have you been on a workshop? Have you seen the Easter range?

Toni&Guy - Haircare

These past few weeks I've been trying a few different hair care & styling products. I love using product in my hair and love having healthy shiny hair which I'm sure everyone does! These next two products are by Toni&Guy. I have quite thick hair and a lot of it, I rarely dry my hair using a hair dryer so always apply some type of product to help with frizz. If you've ever let your hair dry naturally you may have experience some type of frizzy halo which seems to happen!

 20120306-102223.jpg

Thankfully Toni&Guy Leave In Conditioner from their PREP range has helped tame my frizz and made my hair more manageable. I apply a nice generous amount and work it through the hair, combing it works best. The texture is thick and creamy yet it absorbs so easily into the hair without weighing it down. This products would be a must for you if you travel lots OR if you're jet setting off on your holidays! I have a family holiday planned and I intend to pack this, I've even used this in my daughters hair. The price is another good point- £5.19 /100ml

Toni&Guy say-
Suitable for all hair types. Advanced all-day nourishment and hydration. Spread the desired amount evenly through damp hair before styling to help tame frizz throughout the day. Comb through for even distribution before air drying or heat styling.

20120306-102325.jpg

Toni&Guy Shine Gloss Serum is part of the Classic range, I've been using this after any heat styling tools. The smell is lovely and lingers in the hair afterwards, there's something really gratifying about using a hair serum I think, it's like you're giving something back to your hair-a real treat. If you curl your hair this also helps defines curls and adds a beautiful healthy gloss which glistens in the sun. You only need a small amount, I have long hair so use 2-3pumps, but if you have fine hair I would try 1-2 pumps first off. You can buy this either as a 10ml/ £2.19 or a 30ml/£7.19.

Toni&Guy say-
Suitable for all hair types. Helps controls frizz and static with an ultra-smooth shine and alignment. Work 2-3 pumps of serum between palms and work through lengths and ends of dry hair avoiding the roots. Perfect after blow-drying to seal cuticles, condition hair and tame fly-aways.

20120306-102258.jpg

I just checked and Boots currently have 3 for 2 on these products and other Toni&Guy products from the range so check them out here.

Would you like to try these products? What products do you use to tame frizz?

i-Perfection New CID Cosmetics

New CID Cosmetics is a fairly new brand to myself. I've tried a few items from their range before and enjoyed what I tried, so when I had the chance to try their new i - Perfection Foundation I had high hopes from the start.

On first inspection I like the look of the packaging but not too keen on the shiny silver bottle, I don't thick it's very practical for a foundation. You can imagine that after a little while the bottle has foundation fingertips all over it! I like the texture, it feels light but covers well giving a light-medium coverage

There's 8 shades to pick from, I have the shade Latte but when I first apply it I feel a little pasty so think the next shade up possibly could be better, however having said that once my skin has had time to settle it looks fine. This is down to the special colour adaptive formulation, it will warm up or cool down to suit any skin tone. Now that's what I call magic! I'm a little unsure of the finish personally, New CID Cosmetics say it's a satin finish which gives you a smooth glowing finish. I have dry skin so my skin drinks anything up once applied. I think this foundation would suit combination/oily skins. I personally think my skin looks matte and even slightly dry after applying the foundation. So I've now started to apply a primer underneath, New CID cosmetics have a lovely primer which works perfectly in tune with i- Perfection Colour Adjust Foundation.

i-prime Foundation Primer works best ontop of your normal day cream or lotion. I particularly like this primer because it contains skin-quenching Shea butter and antioxidant Vitamin E. The texture feels lovely on the skin, I use a foundation brush to apply my primer then wait a little bit for my skin to settle and then apply foundation. My foundation glides on and doesn't sit on certain areas of face especially the drier areas such as my forehead and nose.

You can purchase the above products online www.newcidcosmetics.com

KORRES New Almond Oil & Calendula hand cream

I've been enjoying KORRES for a little while now and to be honest I didn't think they could top my love for their amazing lip butters but boy oh boy- I think I just found the best hand cream ever! Yes I'm absolutely comfortable saying that, KORRES Moisturising hand cream with organic Almond Oil & Calendula smells unbelievable and I wish this came in a body lotion! The formula and texture is rich and non greasy and hydrates the hands and cuticles perfectly. This is a must for ladies and gents, I carry this around in my handbag and just love popping the cap and taking a 'whiff'of the lovely aroma.

KORRES say-

Almond Oil, with its exceptional emollient properties, when applied regularly, nourishes extra dry skin and prevents skin moisture loss, whereas Calendula with its conditioning properties, helps soothe the skin from mild irritations. Mavala Nail Polish S/S 2012

This weekend I've been fascinated with shimmery pastel nails. I've seen quite a few peeps using two shades and alternating them on their fingertips, so copying this trend I reached for 2 gorgeous spring shades from the new Mavala collection.

Rose Dust
Is bang on trend, a chic rosy beige shade which is easily worn. If you're a nude fan then this is a must for you. Or if you don't like wearing bright shades this would also be perfect.

Touch of Provence
Is a perfect creamy purple/ lilac shade. It's not too light or wishy washy like some lilacs. Described as a punchy purple hue, Inspired by the beautiful lavender fields. Touch of Provence will make you look effortlessly chic.

You can purchase both of these pretty Spring shades online from www.beautybay.com retailing at £2.99 each plus free delivery, your purse will thank me for it.

I'm going to put an order in when it's pay day for the following shades: Sweet, Toulose, La Paz, Freshy, Sweety and Cyclades Blue. These all look so pretty, especially Toulose which is my favourite!

What shades will you be reaching for this Spring?

Topshop Makeup - Spring/Summer 2012

Hello peeps, I hope you're all enjoying the sunshine and having a nice weekend. Seeings as the sun is shining I thought it would be the perfect time to show you some new shades from the Topshop Core Collection for this Spring/Summer. For those of you who haven't heard or seen Topshop makeup before, you'll be in for a lovely surprise. Topshop have a great selection of core products, some of which are permanent. Topshop makeup has cute packaging and very distinctive, I personally like the packaging and think it makes the products less intimidating unlike other brands. The new shades they've added are based on the latest trends, so if you would like to create these looks then keep reading...

Topshop have added new colours drawing in on their transitional fashion trends, and using these for inspiration for shades. From hot spots in London, New York and Tokyo, to the beaches of Rio and the newest of LA hang outs.

Topshop Makeup takes direct reference from clothing this season. The collection is as much about playing with texture as colour, with transparent sheer shades and matt velvety finishes. Colour palettes resemble a sweet shop, with lolly pop shades in candy pink and orange crush, flashes of fluoro and metallic hues.

Lizzie Dawson, Topshop Makeup Designer

Lips- Rumour Has It
This lipstick is such a pretty every day shade which can be worn very easily, I would describe it as a rose nude. Topshop say it's a dusty rose which is probably right. It has a pretty sheen finish to it and looks very pretty on the lips, I love the name!

Lip Stick- Hedonist
When I first saw this shade I was actually excited to try it, I'm not shy to try bold bright colours on the lips. I love wearing bright lips and very plain eyes, I'm also a fan of matt finish on the lips. Topshop describe Hedonist as a Fluro Orange and as you can tell from the swatch below and also my photo you'll probably agree. I've worn this a few days now with lashings of mascara and also Neon Rose cream blush on the cheeks.

Nails- Mermaid
This has to be one of the most prettiest polishes I own, it is a beautiful mix of sea greens and blues with a beautiful wave of gold! When the sunlight hits the polish it looks blueish but in the shade it's green. It changes all the time, just like the sea! So when I read the name- Mermaid I thought yep I couldn't have picked a better name myself. It has a lovely metallic finish to it and literally glistens with magic.

I don't think you need me to tell you which lip stick swatch is which here? Ha ha.

You can view Topshops Core Collection online here.

I would really love to try the Highlighter next SUNBEAM, have you seen this? It looks bloody stunning!

*Pr Samples, these are my own personal honest opinions as always*

What trends have you been embracing and wearing lately?

Korres- Fragrance Vanilla / Freesia / Lychee

Today I have a fragrance post featuring the very scrumptious Korres Vanilla/ Freesia/ Lychee fragrance. I love sweet heady scents and this has been welcomed into my little perfume community with open arms. It reminds me very much of a very popular famous perfume which I happen to own, they both share very similar notes. The packaging is reminiscent of a story book, the box opens up and tells the tale of the perfume.

20120306-102855.jpg

20120321-215351.jpg

Top Notes
Bergamot, Tea

Heart Notes
Jasmine, Peach Lychee, Fressia, Sandalwood

Base Notes
Vanilla, Patchouli, Musk

The bottle is made from slid glass and looks stunning when caught in the sunlight, obviously you're not meant to store your perfumes in direct sunlight but when I took these photos the bottle looked so pretty. Whilst the bottle doesn't have a fancy lid it still stands out amongst my other perfumes and sometimes the old saying- 'Less is more' really rings true in this case.

You can purchase Vanilla / Freesia / Lychee from www.bathandunwind.com

Have you tried any of the Korres fragrances? Which fragrance have you been reaching for lately?

OPI Charity Shade- Teal The Cows Come Home

OPI are doing a charity collaboration this month as part of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month with Ovacome. Ovacome is a charity which raises the awareness about the symptoms of Ovarian Cancer, by doing so they are helping to support women and hopefully encourage earlier diagnosis and a better chance of recovery.
So to help support this amazing charity OPI have launched a very special nail polish called- Teal The Cows Come Home. I love the name, very fitting to the shade don't you think? As March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month OPI collaborated with Ovacome and used the charity's recognised colour Teal, for every bottle sold in March Lena White are donating £1 to Ovacome. So come on ladies get your 'Teal Tips' at the ready and get supporting and raising awareness of this cause.

OPI describe this shade as a deep turquoise, with a frost finish.

You can purchase teal The Cows Come Home online from www.lenawhite.co.uk

Thanks for reading, have you seen this stunning shade?

Yardley London- New Body Collection

Yardley London is a famous brand which we've all grown up with. First starting many moon ago, Yardley is predominately famous for providing and making soap. During the reign of King Charles 1, when a young man bearing the Yardley name paid the monarch a large and no doubt welcome
Sum to gain the concession for providing all the soap for the City of London. Sadly, the particulars of this enterprise were lost in the Great Fire of London in 1666. Only one detail remained; lavender was a used to perfume the soap. Almost 390 years later, to the current day, English lavender is still synonymous with Yardley London.

20120318-172918.jpg

English Rose Luxury Body Wash- A must for rose addicts. Combining rose absolute, neroli and chamomile, with a heart rosebud and jasmine petals with warm base notes of amber and sandalwood. I totally agree with the title of this body wash, luxury in a tube. I love a body wash which lathers up and leaves your skin feeling silky soft and smooth.

£3.50 (200ml)

20120318-173024.jpg

Lily of the Valley Moisturising Body Lotion- Is best described as an elegant scent which may not appeal to everyone. The formulation of the lotion is perfect, it's actually creamier than some lotions I've tried before. It feels light on the skin and absorbs easily without leaving a greasy layer. Shea butter and glycerine help soothe dryness and hydrates the skin alongside grape seed oil and sweet almond oil. Citrus notes combined with fresh spring flowers including, jasmine, geranium and magnolia make the scent come alive.

£5.99 (250ml)

 20120318-173117.jpg

Royal English Daisy- is my favourite scent out of the three and it does remind me of Marc Jacobs Eau So Fresh ever so slightly. With a fresh dewy green floral scent and energetic top notes of green leaves and apples. Combined with hyacinth and white rose. I can't get enough of this and would be really interested to try the EDT version to see how it is on the skin and how it lasts. The cream itself is rich containing shea butter and cocoa butter. Whilst the texture is thick and cream it feels light and absorbs easily into the skin which is always a big factor when considering a hand cream. There's nothing worse than having a cream which leaves your hands slick like grease. My cuticles have been thanking me since using this.

£3.99 (100ml)

Mini Primark Haul

I've been meaning to blog about my mini shopping trip to Primark the other weekend. I've had a busy few days and plus some of you may notice I'm back on blogger so hopefully my posts should all show up in your feeds from now on. I don't often blog about hauls or shopping trips as to be honest I don't often get into town to treat myself so this was a really nice rare occasion.

I've totally become obsessed with leggings, whether they're plain or patterned I'm hooked. So when my beady eyes focused on these beautes I knew they were coming home with me.I love the aztec/tribal pattern and the mix of colour, these are a little 'Out There' but that's OK I think a plain black tee will work really well with them.

20120317-112308.jpg

*£6.00*

20120317-112337.jpg

Second pair of leggings I picked up are a little thicker in material, they too have an aztec/tribal pattern. The colour of the background material is best described as a terracotta shade. I plain to wear a black tee with these also.

20120317-112433.jpg

*£7.00*

20120317-112508.jpg

This next item is my favourite and an absolute BARGAIN, I first set my eyes on this lovely knitted cardigan at Christmas.I loved the colour and the design was really eye catching, sadly at the time they didn't have my size. Then low in behold whilst have a nosey at the sale items they had this one on it's own with a huge rail of the black version. It's a size 12 which is a little baggy on me but I like cardigans bigger. Also the best is yet to come, this would've set me back £16 at Christmas but I paid £5 for it!!!
20120321-210314.jpg

*£16* £5!!!

 20120321-210354.jpg

Moustaches seem to be everywhere lately and when I saw this cute tee I found myself rummaging for my size! I like the tie at the bottom and the little capped sleeves are perfect for hot summer days. I recently bought a really cute black moustache ring on Ebay and also ordered a necklace so I plain on wearing them all together. This tee was only £4.

20120321-210454.jpg

Next up is a leopard print cropped tee which I first spotted on my friend and it was love at first sight so had to pick one up for me! I love the soft wash of colours as the background material and then the black bold leopard print all over. I'm not to sure about the scalloped edging though? But for £4 I can't really be too picky!

20120321-210742.jpg

I like the fact you can go into Primark and pick up a few bits and feel 'with it' without breaking the bank. My Primark is fairly well stocked and always putting out new lines. I'm hoping to pick up some dresses and pastel jeggings next.

Have you bought any goodies lately from Primark?
